I hope that everyone had an amazing Mother’s Day! We hosted this year and had my mom and dad, my MIL, my grandparents in-law (is that even how you say it), and my SIL and her family. It was a lot of fun, even though we ended up eating an hour later than planned (which always seems to happen when we use the smoker), and I took no pictures. #bloggerfail
Lately I’ve been on a bit of an Oreo kick. You may remember this Oreo parfait I made a few weeks ago. So tasty. One of the deserts I made for Mother’s Day was this amazing caramel Oreo brownie. It is easy to make, and super sweet, so be sure to cut the pieces small.
Start by making a batch of your favorite brownies. I added about 1/2 a cup of crushed Oreos in my batter before baking. After baking them let them cool, and poke some holes in them.
Pour about 1/2 a jar of caramel sauce over the brownies (either store bought, or you can make your own).
Frost your brownies.
Top with more crushed Oreos if you’d like.
See wasn’t that so easy?? You can either make your own brownies, or use a box mix. You may want to line your pan with parchment paper, which will make it easier to take the brownies out of the pan to cut them. And like I said, these are pretty sweet, so you’ll probably want to cut them into smaller sizes. And I have a big sweet tooth, so that’s saying something.
- 1 batch brownies
- 1 jar carmel sauce
- 1/4 cup butter (softened)
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 2-3 cups powder sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup crushed oreos
- Bake brownies according to directions.
- Let brownies cool, poke holes in them, and pour 1/2 jar of caramel sauce over them.
- Frost with frosting, and top with crushed Oreos if desired.
