Now that October is here football has been in full swing for about a month. In our family weekends are spent watching football. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. College, professional, it doesn’t matter. We watch them both. There’s something about cheering your team onto a win that is just so much fun.
Do you know what makes it really great?
Friends, family, and food
You see, to me and my family, football is about more than just watching a game. It’s about spending time with friends and family. Talking, joking, and making memories. Football has a way of bringing people together. If you like the sport then you understand. Watching the coin toss, hearing the marching band, seeing the cheerleaders, its just fun! Perhaps it because I was in marching band in high school, or had season tickets (in the student section) in college, but football just reminds me of fun.
Football also gives a reason to throw a party and eat amazing food.
With thoughts of touchdowns and fumbles dancing in my head I headed to Kroger to do my grocery shopping where I picked up some RITZ and TRISCUIT crackers. I had an idea for a great snack that would be perfect to munch on during a game.
While there, I also picked up some Coca-Cola, a great addition to any football celebration. I decided to go with the 1/2 liter bottles, since you can put a cap on it when you aren’t drinking it. That makes spills a little less likely to happen.
So, what yummy recipe do I have to share with you today?
Incredibly easy pulled chicken made in the crock pot. There is something about fall that just begs for me to use my crock pot, and I am so glad I did. This chicken turned out great! Feel free to scroll down to get a printable recipe.
Step One:
Place boneless, skinless chicken thighs in slow cooker.
Step Two:
Mix BBQ sauce (I just used a bottle of pre-made smoky BBQ sauce), brown sugar, and onion in a bowl.
Step Three:
Mix the chicken and BBQ sauce up a little. Put the lid on, and cook on low for 6-7 hours.
Step Four:
Once chicken is cooked, take it out shredded it and place it back into the pot and mix around.
Step Five:
Use chicken to top your RITZ and TRISCUIT crackers and enjoy.
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thigh
- 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcester sauce
- 1/2 medium diced onion
- RITZ crackers
- TRISCUIT crakers
- Place chicken in crock pot.
- Mix BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcester sauce and onion in a bowl. Pour over chicken.
- Cook on low for 6-7 hours.
- After chicken is cooked, take out of crock pot, shred, and put back in.
- Mix, and use on top of RITZ and TRISCUIT.
See! I told you how easy it is! This chicken turned out so good! Slow cooking it made it super tender and really easy to shred. The onions basically melt into the topping. The best though, is how SIMPLE it is! No one wants to be stuck in the kitchen, cooking away, while the game is one. That’s why I love this! Just throw it all in, set it, and forget about it until it’s time to eat. Bonus? It makes the house smell wonderful!
