ELECTRONIC FREE GIFT GUIDE FOR ELEMENTARY AGE
{1} Spirograph: did anyone else have this as a kid? I used to spend hours using it. I was so excited when Annabelle saw it in the Target catalog and circled it.
{2} Rainbow Scratch
{3} American Girl Doll: I remember when I got my American Girl Doll in elementary school ( I got Addy, then when they came out with the create your own, I got one that looked like me). I was soooo excited. My friends and I made clothes for them and would play for hours. Now my girls love playing with them at my parents house. Once again, this is a pricey doll, so good for older kids who will take care of them.
**Note this link is not an Amazon link as they don’t have many choices. I am not an affiliate with American Girl Doll. But if you work for them, and happen to read this, I’d love to make something happen. 😉 **
{5} Light Bright : Another toy that I had as a child. Isn’t it crazy how many toys from the 80s and 90s are still around?? It is so great letting your kids get creative about what design they are going to make, then seeing it light up.
{6} Legos: This year was the first year that Annabelle asked for Legos. These are a classic toy that I can’t ever see going out of style. Bonus is that Matt has so many left over from his childhood, so Annabelle will have lots of chances to create. I totally want Matt to make one of those lego tables when we finish the basement playroom. Maybe even make it reversible to make the other side a train table. Shhhh…. I haven’t told him this yet.
I’m only link a classic building kit, but obviously there are many, many, choices.
{7} Playmobil: I feel like these are kind of the next step up from Little People toys. They do require a bit more assembly, which may frustrate younger kids, but once it’s set up, there are endless ways to play with them. Both Annabelle and Autumn love playing with the sets we have (although I do think Annabelle takes a bit of a leader roll when they play).
{8} Magnet Tiles: my parents have these and the girls love to create with them. They even make building for their little people.
{9} Books: Books are always a great option as a gift. You could give a classic like The Grinch who Stole Christmas, or if you are looking to get into a series some of our favorites are Elephant and Piggie, Narwhal and Jelly, and Super Fly Guy.
{10} K’nex: This is another great building toy for kids. While you can get instructions on how to build the models (I think that you have to print them up unfortunately), kids can also create what they would like. Besides the K’nex imagine, there is also Kids K’nex for younger children and K’nex Education which is more STEM foucsed.
{11} Board Games: I don’t think you can ever go wrong with board games. You can get new games like Yetti in My Spaghetti or stick to the old school games like Chutes and Ladders or Guess Who. They even have an actual game for Spoons, which I remember playing with a card deck and real spoons.
